But are they actually better than the regular Kinder's products? Do they taste different? And most importantly, are they worth the slightly higher price tag?

We bought all three organic Kinder's seasonings and put them through extensive testing alongside their non-organic counterparts. Here is everything we found.

What Does Organic Actually Mean for Seasonings?

Before we compare flavors, it helps to understand what USDA Organic certification means for a seasoning product. To earn the organic label, at least 95 percent of the ingredients must be produced without synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, irradiation, sewage sludge, or genetically modified organisms. The remaining 5 percent must come from an approved list of non-organic substances.

For seasonings, this means the garlic, onion, herbs, spices, and other flavoring ingredients are all sourced from organic farms. The salt itself is not subject to organic certification since it is a mineral, not an agricultural product. The practical upshot is that organic seasonings use ingredients grown with more traditional farming methods and without certain chemical inputs.

How We Used It

We tested Cowboy Butter on grilled ribeye steaks, roasted chicken thighs, baked potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and scrambled eggs. It performed exceptionally on all five applications. The standout was grilled corn -- the buttery seasoning melts onto the hot kernels and creates a flavor that rivals any street corn recipe without the extra steps of making compound butter.

Organic vs. Regular

In side-by-side testing, the organic Cowboy Butter tasted very similar to a homemade cowboy butter blend. The garlic and herb flavors were clean and distinct. We did not detect a night-and-day difference that would make someone who already owns the regular version rush out to replace it, but the organic version held its own in every test.

Flavor Profile

Garlic dominates here, and that is entirely the point. The butter powder rounds out the flavor and adds richness, while a touch of onion and herbs provide depth without distracting from the garlic.

How We Used It

The organic Garlic Butter used noticeably fragrant garlic. In a side-by-side smell test, the organic version had a sweeter, more nuanced garlic aroma. Whether this translates to a meaningful taste difference on a heavily seasoned grilled steak is less clear, but on simpler applications like garlic bread, the quality of the garlic really does come through.

Kinder's Organic Santa Maria Rub

What Is It?

Santa Maria seasoning is inspired by the Santa Maria-style BBQ tradition of California's Central Coast, where tri-tip is king and the seasoning is straightforward: salt, pepper, garlic, and sometimes dried parsley or other herbs. Kinder's organic version comes in a smaller 2.6-ounce tin and features a coarse grind designed specifically for beef.

Flavor Profile

Santa Maria is the most rustic and peppery of the three organic offerings. Coarsely cracked black pepper is the dominant note, supported by granulated garlic and a well-calibrated salt level. There are dried herbs in the background that add subtle earthy notes without making this feel like an Italian seasoning. The overall character is bold, simple, and deeply satisfying on beef.

This is not a complex seasoning, and it is not trying to be. Santa Maria is about letting high-quality beef speak for itself with just enough seasoning to enhance the natural flavor. It is the seasoning equivalent of a perfectly tailored suit -- simple, but every detail is right.

How We Used It

Santa Maria is purpose-built for tri-tip, and that is where it excels. We also used it on flank steak, skirt steak, and burgers with excellent results. Organic vs. Regular

The organic Santa Maria had a particularly vibrant pepper flavor. Black pepper is one of those ingredients where quality genuinely matters, and the organic peppercorns in this blend delivered a more aromatic, complex heat than budget peppercorns. Of the three organic seasonings, this is the one where we most noticed a quality difference in the individual spice components.

Are Kinder's Organic Seasonings Worth It?

After testing all three organic seasonings extensively, here is our honest assessment:

  • If you prioritize organic ingredients for environmental, health, or personal reasons, Kinder's organic line is an excellent choice. The flavors are on par with or slightly better than comparable non-organic blends, and the USDA Organic certification is legitimate.
  • If you are purely taste-motivated, the differences between organic and non-organic Kinder's seasonings are subtle. You are getting high-quality seasonings either way. The organic versions have a slight edge in the freshness and vibrancy of certain ingredients, particularly garlic and black pepper, but it is not a dramatic improvement.
  • If budget is a factor, the regular Kinder's lineup offers outstanding value and flavor. You will not feel like you are missing out if you stick with the non-organic versions.

Our recommendation: if you are buying for the first time and the organic versions are available, go organic. The small price premium gets you cleaner ingredients and slightly more vibrant flavors. If you already own and love the regular Kinder's seasonings, there is no urgent reason to switch, but trying the organic versions when you need to restock is worthwhile.
